They are designed as a framework to assist in reactivating basketball in line with the Federal Government's national principles for the resumption of sport and recreation activities after the COVID-19 shutdown.
The guiding principles:
+Keeping the basketball family safe and healthy.
+Aligning with state and federal government restrictions.
+Consistent with Australian Institute of Sport guidance.
+Utilising the regulations and operating principles of basketball.
While the guidelines allow limited numbers of people to be within a stadium, Basketball Australia is encouraging members to minimise attendance of non-participating persons where possible.
There will be no general rules for stadiums.
Clubs and associations will have to meet the specific circumstances of each venue.
The guidelines set out the return to play in three phases:
Level A: no sport
Level B: gradual return to sport in staged depending upon the size of permitted gatherings
Level C: the "new normal" once sport has returned
These phases take into consideration element ast each level of the sport: individual training, club training, development programs and competition.
Indoor sports are not yet permitted under COVID-19 restrictions.
Conditions for when groups of 20 or less are allowed:
Bench seating: remove where possible.,
General seating areas: closed.
Canteens: follow social distancing with marked areas for queuing and waiting.
Cash handling: avoid wherever possible
Changerooms: closed.
Court cleaning: daily.
COVID-19 health signage on entry: required/.
Designated entry and exit points: required, Consider separate points where possible
Hand sanitiser on entry: strongly recommended.
Hand sanitiser on scorebench:required. Players must utilise this at all breaks and substitutions
Infrared temperature testing: optional.
Public water fountains: closed.
Retail/merchandise stores: closed.
Sanitise scorebench: after each game.
Sanitise scoreboard control: after each game
Toilets: cleaned at least daily.
