Tennis Australia spokesperson Sarah-Lucy Rice said it was the first time trophies had been to Ballarat.
“It’s important to engage in community events,” Rice said.
“Who knows, hopefully this will inspire the next generation of tennis champions – maybe they’ll be from Ballarat.”
Olivia Moneghetti said it was really cool to be up close to the trophies.
She wasn’t allowed to touch the trophies, but she said if she could, she would lift it up over her head, just like the champions do.
The Norman Brookes Challenge Cup (men’s trophy) and the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup (women’s trophy) were seen at Sovereign Hill and the Buninyong Tennis Centre as part of their 80,000 kilometre tour of the Asia Pacific region and Australia.
