APS6 Financial Accountant

Your new role
This Federal Government agency is seeking a dynamic and highly skilled individual to perform tasks inclusive of, but not limited the following;

• A good understanding of, and practical experience in financial accounting;
• Competency in computerised Financial Management Information Systems (FMIS) (e.g. TechnologyOne) and the Commonwealth Government’s Central Budget Management System (CBMS);
• The ability to work collaboratively and to develop solutions to analytical problems together with strong liaison and stakeholder relationship skills; and
• The ability to act in a supervisory role within a flexible and supportive team.

• Assisting with the preparation of the annual Financial Statements.
• Reporting the monthly actual financial results via input into the Department of Finance’s Central Budget Management System (CBMS).
• Preparing journals and undertaking processes for salaries, assets, depreciation, accruals and account reconciliations.
• Undertaking the preparation of BAS and FBT returns.
• Liaising and negotiating with staff and other organisations on financial processing and reporting of issues.
• Developing, reviewing, implementing and documenting accounting and operational policies, procedures and practices.
• Assist with other daily operations of the team as necessary.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you must be able to demonstrate the above listed skills, be able to work in a team environment, have experience working within a Federal Department / Agency, as would experience using TechOne or SAP with a current security clearance.

To be eligible for this role you must be a degree qualified Australian Citizen with a CA / CPA post qualification.
