Sturt Street has come alive with twinkling Christmas lights, brightly coloured baubles, a huge Christmas tree and of course the very popular floral reindeers in the 300 block.
Ballarat City Council last week started to put up the decorations, which mayor John Burt said was always an exciting time of year.
“We are fortunate to have an enviable suite of Christmas decorations here in Ballarat, so make the most of it by bringing the children along and enjoying the complimentary entertainment and activities on offer throughout December,” Cr Burt said.
“The first of the celebrations will kick off with the annual City of Ballarat party on Friday, December 7 from 5.30pm to 8.30pm in Alfred Deakin Place in Camp Street.”
The street party’s line-up is expected to wow audiences with the likes of Mik Maks, as well as a visit from Santa. Free activities will also be on offer including angel wand making, festive biscuit decorating, Christmas card making, letters to Santa and face painting.
Children are encouraged to dress up as their favourite Christmas character for a chance to win spot prizes.
