The Ballarat Cricket Association district division one reigning premiers are already 35 runs ahead of their rivals with a further six wickets in hand moving into the second day of play.
After winning the toss and sending Ballan in to bat, the Bunnies tore through the visitors for 104.
Liam Rigby did the bulk of the damage, snaring 4/14, with Jake Harris (3/23) and Todd Kitchen (2/12) playing a part in rolling the Blues inside 38 overs.
With more than 40 overs still to bat on day one, Buninyong set about reeling in the modest first innings target.
They were in early trouble when Luke Reynolds, Michael Flynn and Rigby all departed before the score could reach 30, but an important stand between Todd (36) and Joel Kitchen (78 not out) helped steady the ship.
The pair put on 112 for the fourth wicket to carry the Bunnies to 4/139 at stumps.
Elsewhere, Dunnstown is well on its way to victory against Lucas at home.
Andrew Sheehan (3/12) and Brendan Lewis (3/12) helped the Towners skittle the visitors for 106, before reaching 1/63 late in the afternoon.
Dunnstown lost opener Stephen Howard for a duck, but were carried to stumps by Paul Phillips (29 not out) and Jarrod Sheehan (31 not out).
The final match of the round saw Burrumbeet post a competitive 9/204 against Creswick Imperials.
Darren Linane top-scored with 80 at the top of the order, with Kane Leathem snaring the best figures of 4/24 for the Imperials.
