Metro train services resume

Train services across Melbourne have resumed following widespread disruptions to Metro and V/Line train services today.

Metro Trains confirmed the Craigieburn, Upfield, Sunbury, Williamstown and Werribee lines are back running after a cable that had been damaged between Flinders Street Station and Southern Cross Station was fixed. It apologised for the delay on Twitter.

The situation threw the transport plans of thousands of people into chaos with buses being organised to replace train services on the Craigieburn line between Essendon and Southern Cross stations; the Upfield line between Coburg and Southern Cross stations the Sunbury line between Sunshine and Southern Cross stations; and the Werribee and Williamstown lines between Newport and Southern Cross stations.
