Pop Up Ballarat will showcase products from the region’s designers and craftspeople for seven days only, at Backspace Gallery off Camp Street, starting tomorrow.
Red Brick Gallery owner and artist Steph Wallace said she looked forward to seeing what other local designers would have on offer.
“This will show what we’re all doing, but presented in a retail way, not as a market,” Ms Wallace said.
“Markets can be a hefty risk – you pay a good deposit at the big events, have to make sure that the products you make are right for the market and you don’t really get a break when you’re manning your stall.
“This whole thing is manned, low cost and just like a shop.”
Pop-up shops open for short periods often in unique locations to test new products, move excess stock quickly or create urgency among consumers.
Pop Up Ballarat will open from tomorrow to Sunday and from next Thursday to Sunday, December 9, from noon to 4pm with late-night shopping on Friday nights.
