Investigators have been told a 10-year-old girl was riding her scooter south on Riviera Drive on the way to school when she was approached by a man around 8.30am.
Victoria Police says the man enticed the schoolgirl to the rear of his orange or red-coloured station wagon. As she approached the car boot, he grabbed her under the arms and lifted her into the vehicle.
It is understood the quick-thinking victim jumped over the back seats and ran out of the back door, hiding in a nearby garden before raising the alarm.
The man police wish to speak to is described as aged in his late 20s, with a thin build, olive complexion and short dark hair.
