Mr Schinck was inducted as an IPAA fellow recently for his leadership and achievements in public policy development.
Councillor Amy Johnson told Wednesday night’s council meeting Mr Schinck joined a group of chief executive officers and director generals of some of the largest departments in the country who have also been recognised for their public administration contributions.
“This is a fantastic achievement for Anthony personally and it reflects well on council as a whole,” Cr Johnson said.
The IPAA said it had awarded Mr Schinck for his role in cementing Ballarat’s position as the regional capital of Western Victoria. He was also recognised for managing sustainable growth while building stronger communities, attracting and delivering major events and projects. Mr Schinck said he was very humbled by the award.
“It’s not only being inducted as a fellow, but also being nominated by my peers at a state level,” Mr Schinck said.
“It was also terrific to be alongside the three national fellows, Peter Harris, Fran Thorn and Jennifer Westacott.”
Seven new state fellows were inducted, including Environment Protection Authority chairman Cheryl Batagol.
