The Kingston youngster will meet Queenslander Priscilla Hon at Melbourne Park tomorrow.
Hives, 16, secured a place in the last eight with a three-set win over Samantha Harris today - 4-6 6-3 6-3.
This gave her two wins and second place in her group in the round-robin phase of the event.
A wildcard entry, Hives progressed with unbeaten second seed Storm Sanders.
Hon finished on top of her group, ahead of top seed Azra Hadzic.
This has opened up the championship, with Hadzic and Sanders now meeting in a quarter final, in the other half of the draw to Hives.
