Cairns Taipans chief executive officer Mark Beecroft said the club was pleased that Bruce would continue to develop his game with Ballarat during the NBL off-season.
It will also bring Bruce’s NBL experience back to his SEABL club, benefitting both parties.
“Shaun’s return to Ballarat was a key part of the agreement that brought him to Cairns in the first place,” Beecroft said.
“The Taipans are committed to ensuring our younger players have the ability to continue to develop both on and off the court. We look forward to watching Shaun’s performances with the Miners and seeing him continue his rapid development.”
Bruce described the decision to play with the Ballarat Holden Miners when not on Taipans duty as an easy one.
“The Miners and coach Molloy have been first class in everything that they have done for me since arriving in 2010. Ballarat is the perfect place for me to get better,” he said.
Miners head coach Guy Molloy is excited to see Bruce back in Miners colours after a stint in the nation’s top league.
“Shaun is very important to the club. He’s had a chance to get a taste of the NBL and I believe he’s done an outstanding job in the minutes he’s received,” Molloy said.
