Winners of the the Readers’ Choice award in The Courier’s Christmas Lights competition last year, the couple said their well-known displays at this time of year have become a tradition.
“We will endeavour to continue it as long as we can. People now expect that we do it every year and we actually really enjoy it too,” Mrs Cotronea said.
Entered again in this year’s competition, Mrs Cotronea said they’ve gone with a slightly different theme.
“It’s a little bit different this year and we’ve put a few new things up as well,” she said.
“Of course we still have Santa and the reindeers and our sleigh which kids can have photos with but we’ve gone with really bright and colourful decorations.”
This Christmas marks 10 years of putting up Christmas lights around Pineview Residential Care in Nicholson Street. Mrs Cotronea said the main reason they keep on doing it is for the people.
“Christmas is a really special time – both in our own family and our family residents. We’re not in it to win it. It’s for our residents and their families to enjoy and for the public as well,” she said. “It’s our way of kicking in the Christmas spirit.”
