Cyclone Evan caused major damage in Fiji and Samoa, leaving thousands of people without a home and cutting roads, power and water supplies to many villages.
With seven schools destroyed on the island, Samoan families are facing the new year without a place to send their kids to school.
A major recovery effort is underway. Red Cross is assisting on the ground with emergency food supplies, first aid kits and temporary shelter, as well as helping to rebuild critical infrastructure.
At this time of year people do not necessarily have lots of money to spare, but the Pacific is our backyard and the people of Fiji and Samoa desperately need our help. To find out more please visit the Red Cross website.
