A COMMUNITY meeting has been held in Snake Valley this morning as the community works to regroup following yesterday’s devastating fire.
About 200 people packed out the meeting where they heard from shire councils and emergency services.
There was concern from residents over the lack of information getting out yesterday about where the fires were and the impact on their homes.
CFA state duty officer Brett Boatman said the number of fire trucks in Snake Valley had doubled yesterday afternoon, prior to the fire, in case of any fire outbreaks.
Pyrenees Shire mayor Michael O'Connor said he felt the firefighting effort was successful.
"We're here to support (residents) in every way we can," Mr O'Connor said.
Police have confirmed eight homes have been destroyed by the fire and between 600 and 1000 livestock have been lost.
They say losses could increase as damage continues to be assessed.
The CFA have confirmed two hay sheds were destroyed, along with 12 pieces of farm machinery.
More than 250 DSE and CFA firefighters battled the blaze yesterday, which had a 17 kilometre perimeter.
