Quickly becoming a big date on the fashion calendar, Ballarat Pacing Cup’s Fashions on the Field competition is predicted to top last year’s success.
Held at Bray Raceway on January 25, the event has organisers excited to host what they hope will be another successful year.
Marketing co-ordinator Marita Schiltz said women and children were encouraged to dress up for the event, with many prizes to be won.
“We had a big crowd last year so hopefully those who watched will join in this year,” she said.
“We are not necessarily looking for the best dressed but the most co-ordinated, someone who has put a lot of effort in, and for the children to have fun.”
Hosting the fashions competition this year will be WIN News presenters Jane Bunn and Wes Cuthworth.
Kicking off at 7pm, anyone interested can register on the night at 5pm, with heats in women, junior and children sections.
Ms Schiltz said with other harness racing clubs starting to follow in Ballarat Pacing Club’s footsteps, the aim of the Fashions on the Field event was to get those interested in fashion to come along.
“We are trying to get other people coming to the trots, a different crowd,” she said.
Last year’s event was the first of its kind for the Ballarat Pacing Cup in nearly 20 years.
Ms Schiltz said it was expected to grow each year.
