Christopher Clarke, 29, fronted Ballarat Magistrates Court this morning and pleaded guilty to one count of escaping from prison.
Magistrate Kay Robertson described the escape as "incredibly stupid behaviour".
The court heard Clarke put clothes in his bed and escaped through a window in the early hours of December 27.
He was captured at Colac the next day.
Clarke will spend an extra six months in jail for his escape.
