I NOTE the letter by Margo Rees (January 25), in which an observation was made about the Geelong Road-Whitehorse Road roundabout.

Ms Rees said "the roadworks appeared to be finished".
I write simply to indicate that there is still a great deal more work to be done with contracts for stages three and four yet to be awarded.
These stages will focus on the troublesome roundabout and include road widening and alterations to the roundabout.
These changes will improve the traffic flow especially during peak-hour traffic.
During this time, speed restrictions and traffic management will apply, and motorists should take this into account.
The return to school this week will again result in Main Road being very busy.
I urge all users of the road to maintain patience and due care, especially in the congested areas.
However, all efforts are being made to get these vital upgrades done as quickly as possible and with minimum impact on road users and pedestrians.
For those returning to school this week, I wish you well for the year ahead.
May 2013 be an exciting, productive and rewarding time for you all.
