After finishing fifth in last year’s carnival, Ballarat has maintained its place in the provincial division.
The side will meet division two winner from last season, South West, in Geelong on February 18.
Ballarat is then scheduled to take on teams from Sale-Maffra, Leongatha and Mornington Peninsula.
The Ballarat boys, under the guidance of captain Matt Goonan, will be looking to improve on the one win they managed against Traralgon and District in 2012.
They will have their final hit-out in tomorrow’s challenge match against Bendigo, which will be one of eight inter-association clashes that will decide the Turner-Hollioake Shield.
Unlike past years, the Ballarat squad will stay all week in Melbourne during the carnival.
