Great work providing Auslan interpreters for some tours on the Heritage Weekend.
I saw the Auslan Interpreted icon in the Heritage Weekend booklet, which enabled me to go.
I went along on a family day out, and did so without bothering my hearing family about was said around me during the tours.
I felt great to be able to go as an equal to hearing people, and enjoy the day out.
As ratepayer, I am pleased to see City of Ballarat can provide access for people with disabilities to attend community events.
I do hope City of Ballarat continues to provide Auslan interpreters, as it makes deaf people feel not so isolated and part of the community they live in.
Hearing people also learn from the experience as well, as I can see people accepting having Auslan Interpreters around. Some may even take an interest in wanting to learn Auslan, as Auslan classes are held in Ballarat.
