But the band’s siblings Matt Doll and Beki Colada will take to the stage this week for a show sure to conjure up feelings of nostalgia.
With both Doll and Colada pursuing their music careers in Ballarat and LA respectively, it’s not often that they gig together.
Having recently released their EP Searching for Zero, the duo said the show would feature some new hits as well as classics from The Mavis’s days.
“We’re promoting the EP, but also delving into our back catalogue. We want to keep things fresh but play stuff people know,” Doll said.
“Since we’ve started working together again we really appreciate the way our voices blend together. We’re like two parts of the whole and balance each other out.”
Earlier this year, The Mavis’s 1998 single Cry was voted by music lovers as the best song to come out of Ballarat.
Colada said it was a nice surprise to be remembered in her hometown years after the band broke up.
“It was really heartwarming and touching,” she said.
