Strong wind is being blamed for part of a house falling from a truck near Warrnambool yesterday.
The house fell while being transported near Mugavins Road on the Princes Highway, east of Killarney in south-west Victoria shortly before 3pm.
Worksafe inspectors were last night investigating whether the building was adequately secured.
A crane was called to assist and the road traffic was diverted to Southern Cross Road and Port Fairy Road.
First Constable Steve Gray, from Koroit police, said it was lucky no one was injured.
“He’s heading west and a gust of wind has just caught the inside of it,” he said. “It’s come straight off the truck.”
First Constable Gray said the male driver, from Tower Hill, told him the house started to move due to a poor section of road shortly before it came off.
He said another truck was following close behind at a slow speed.
“It’s certainly just luck that no one was injured.”
The highway was reopened at 5pm.
