Greyhounds: $50,000 bonus at stake in Ballarat Cup

TWO greyhounds will chase a $50,000 bonus for connections in next Wednesday’s Ballarat Cup, 450m, after winning their way through to the final with heat victories last night.

Paw Licking, trained by Kelvyn Greenough, and Ronan Izmir, for Jason Thompson, won heats in 25.145sec and 25.126sec respectively.

Each can secure a huge bonus for owners as the first dog to win three country cups in a calendar year.

Paw Licking won Traralgon and Shepparton cups, while Ronan Izmir won at Warrnambool and Bendigo.

Other heat winners - Deadly Vane (Joe Borg, 25.346sec), Empire Allen (Andrea Dailly, 25.166sec), Dark Warrior (Darren McDonald, 25.299sec), Allen Malik (Steven Collins, 25.207sec), Clone Your Own (Robert Britton, 25.207sec) - also won through to the $80,000 group 2 final.

Fastest second place-getter Veyron Bale (Andrea Dailly) was the last greyhound to qualify for the decider.
