Lisa Fowler gave birth to two boys in the early hours of New Year’s Day, Ballarat Base Hospital’s first babies of the year.
Lenny entered the world first at 7:30am followed closely by Lewis at 7:32am, weighing in at 2.86kg (six pound five ounces) and 2.95kg (six pound eight ounces) respectively.
“I think it’s pretty cool they are born on New Year’s Day, they will have some pretty good parties and their parents will have the day off,” she said.
Husband Gregg Fowler said his wife’s water broke almost on the stroke of 2014 at home.
“She was sitting down watching the fireworks at midnight on television, then she heard a pop of her own,” he said.
Clearly overwhelmed with joy, the parents said they were expecting twins but had kept the gender a surprise.
They are yet to find out if the twins are identical.
“You feel a bit delicate at first but then you hold them and it all comes natural from there,” proud father Gregg said.
“Those changes (of having more family members) will still hit us, we will possibly have to do more work with two of them.”
Big sister, six-year-old Ruby-June, was very excited to meet the family’s new duo and said she looked forward to spending time with them.
