A new pedestrian concourse has opened over the station as part of the $4.8 billion Regional Rail Link Project.
The new concourse is one of many improvements expected to be completed at the station as part of the project.
Footscray - Deer Park Alliance general manager Brad Jackson said he was delighted with the result.
“The new concourse is well lit and fully accessible through stairs, lifts and ramps,” he said.
“It is a huge improvement on the old station underpass, which is now closed.”
Screens designed by local artist Martine Corompt depicting local plant life in the area ere part of the concourse.
“The screens provide visual interest, as well as highlighting the unique flora found in the Sunshine area,” Mr Jackson said.
“It is just one of many artistic elements incorporated into stations upgraded as part the Regional Rail Link project.”
