The gallery on Warrenheip Street – a short stroll from the finish line – is running a range of activities for children associated with cycling and art.
Owner Trudy Nicholson said she decided to organise the day to get the community involved in the big event and to help entertain the younger cycling fans.
“With cycling, I guess a lot of it is passive,” she said. “They like it for a certain time, so to maintain their interest and to get them thinking a little differently I thought, well, I will open the gallery.
“I watch it every year and we can watch it from in here because we can see it through the window.”
The gallery will be open from 10am on Saturday and Sunday and any school-aged children can work on cycling-themed art.
The art will include drawing, printing and collage. There will also be face painting on the day for the children who really want to stand out on the sidelines.
