Ballarat breakfast report: January 9

The glorious weather is set to continue today, with the top temperature predicted to reach 29 degrees.

It will be mostly sunny with winds north to northeasterly 20 to 25 km/h tending east to northeasterly and becoming light in the early afternoon.

Police are appealing for people to keep an eye out for a distinctive looking boat which was stolen in Ballarat yesterday morning.

The two-tonne Malibu speed boat was taken from a property on Finlay Street in Brown Hill some time between 10am and 11am.

A large grassfire was brought under control in Maude overnight, after the attendance of 33 CFA tankers and vehicles.

Residents at Meredith and surrounds were given advice at 10pm last night that there was no current threat, with the fire size 350 hectares.

No major incidents were attended by local paramedics.

State Emergency Services volunteers decided to help the community in a different way to normal over the Christmas period.

While many people spent time with our families in the lead-up to the festive season, the volunteers were busy delivering Christmas hampers to disadvantaged and battling families.

No disruptions on the Ballarat line this morning. There will be an extra service tonight from Southern Cross after the Big Bash League match between Melbourne Stars and Adelaide Strikers at 11.45pm.

Good morning, Ballarat.
