Despite forfeiting this year’s event, Forest Resort still remains contracted to host the tournament in 2015 and 2016.
Resort administrators are weighing up several factors to determine if the championship remains a viable economic benefit for the Ballarat region.
“There’s no change (to the situation) at this stage. It’s an existing contract that remains until 2016,” Novotel Forest Resort general manager Jessie Sheehan said. “It’s really a decision that will be made by the controllers of the resort and not the hotel staff.”
Forest Resort hosted the Victorian PGA Championship in 2012 and 2013 but relinquished its rights for the 2014 edition, which will be held at the Heritage Golf and Country Club in Melbourne in February.
Creswick is one of three Ballarat clubs which will host the Ballarat District Golf Association 54-hole Open Tournament.
