NORTH Melbourne Football Club returns to Ballarat, the Roos home away from Arden Street, for its annual AFL community camp from Thursday.
This is the sixth-consecutive year the Roos have camped the team in Ballarat for pre-season preparations.
The Roos say they will bring a full-strength roster to town for community activities, including captain Andrew Swallow in his continued comeback from his Achilles tendon injury.
This is a good chance to see how the Roos are shaping up - they return to Ballarat next week to host Carlton in a NAB Challenge bout at Eureka Stadium.
CYCLING returns to Ballarat on Thursday with the Herald Sun Tour.
Stage one will finish in Sturt Street with riders starting in Geelong.
Stage two will leave for Bendigo from Lake Wendouree.
The tour arrives a month after a bumper Cycling Australia National Road Championships that featured 2011 Tour De France winner Cadel Evans.
BALLARAT Gift will make its return to Eastern Oval for a two-day Victorian Athletic League meet at the weekend.
Reigning Stawell Gift winner Andrew Robinson is a confirmed entrant.
There is a strong hometown contingent in the marquee men's and women's sprints.
