Shane Warne to coach England's cricket team? England's soccer manager Roy Hodgson is as likely to be offered the job as Warne, according to London's Tele-graph newspaper.
While Warne suggested on Twitter on Monday that he had some interest in the job, the Telegraph wrote: "Dubbed the greatest captain Australia never had, there are few figures in the game who command the same level of respect or possess as sharp a cricketing brain as Shane Warne. That said, it's more likely that Warne would return to playing in the Australia Test side for the next Ashes . . ."
The newspaper added: "Warne can think all he likes; Roy Hodgson is as likely to be offered the job."
But while the Tele-graph dismissed Warne as an option, the newspaper's online poll had Warne second favourite among six options – behind South African Gary Kirsten, who has since suggested his strong reluctance because of the amount of time he would need to spend away from home.
