Morning sport catch up: February 5

THE Herald Sun Tour begins its journey towards Ballarat tonight - well, kind of.

Cyclists compete in the time trial in Melbourne before the road race gets underway tomorrow.

Riders then charge from Geelong to Ballarat, where they will land and stay the night before leaving for Bendigo on Friday morning.

The tour is part of a massive week for sports fans in the region, with North Melbourne's community camp and the Ballarat Gift the main highlights.

The Kangaroos will arrive in Ballarat tomorrow and stay until Friday before returning the following week for a NAB Challenge match against Carlton.

Also next week, the Ballarat Badminton Association will host the 2014 Kumpoo Oceania Championships.

It will be a big two weeks for the centre with the Pan Pacific Teams Championships and the Li-Ning Australian Junior International also being played in Ballarat.

Meanwhile, if you are looking for something to do tonight, head down to the Ballarat Greyhound Racing Club's regular Wednesday night meeting at Morshead Park.

Racing gets underway from 6.58pm with the last of 12 races to jump at 10.37pm.
