Burton, just 17, will represent the under-20 squad as a bottom-age player in Perth after recently undertaking a three-day training camp with her fellow squad members in preparation for competition against Australia’s top female juniors.
Burton also impressed at a recent development camp at the Australian Institute of Sport.
Meanwhile Short will be lining up for Victoria Country in the national under-18 championships at Canberra in April.
Like Burton, he also was a bottom-aged player selected in the squad, and will be 16 at the time of the championships.
His gruelling schedule of basketball in the coming months includes six training camps for the nationals as well as a Basketball Victoria National Performance Program camp.
