The north-bound lane of Grenville Street is closed and a traffic diversion to Curtis Street in place after fire destroyed the children’s play centre and a yoga studio on February 6.
Ballarat City Council’s general manager of city infrastructure Eric Braslis said it would stay closed until the owner of the burnt-out building provided the city with an engineer’s report about a wall of the fire-damaged building.
“The report is due to be received in early March,” he said.
Mr Braslis said there was no damage to the road.
The building was not owned by the Plaster Fun House or yoga studio operators.
Following the fire, Ballarat City Fire Brigade senior station officer Shane Phillips said the internals of the building were burnt and would probably have to be rebuilt or reassessed.
