School sustainability co-ordinator Dan Pollard said most pupils at the school would take a break from class and work to clean up the school area as well as McKenzie Reserve which they often used for lunchtime activities and sports.
Mr Pollard said the school worked hard to promote sustainability.
“Days like Clean Up Schools Day gives pupils a sense of what role they play in society,” he said.
Grade four pupil Yuvika is in the waste group and helps to educate other school members about the importance of recycling.
“We’ll be cleaning the school and picking up rubbish on Friday,” she said.
“I don’t want my school to be dirty. This is my school.”
