We can expect a slightly warmer 24 degrees today with glimpses of sunshine throughout the day.

The weekend seems to be producing much of the same kind of weather, with cold mornings and a top of 25 degrees on Saturday and 26 degrees on Sunday.

Look out for nicer weather on Monday, producing a top of 30 degrees.

Police reported a mostly quiet evening overnight.

However, a 20-year-old man was charged with nine offences after an alleged stabbing incident at Lake Esmond.

The Ballarat man  was charged with a variety of offences which include unlawful assault, assault in companion, assault and causing injury intentionally or recklessly.

He has been bailed to appear in the Ballarat Magistrates Court in April.

Police are still interviewing two other men in relation to the stabbing.

They are expected to be remanded in custody overnight.

Ballarat Police said a group of five  people were looking for a lost pet near Lake Esmond when they were confronted by the three men around 7pm.

Fire crews only had the one call out overnight.

Ballarat Fire Brigade senior station officer Scott Gambino said crews attended a small grass fire near Dereel around 6.30 pm.

Nothing of interest to report from Ambulance crews.

All seems to be going well for Ballarat train commuters this morning with services running on time.

We will be on scene at the Head of the Lake regatta updating readers throughout the day. So keep a close eye on our website for pictures and results.
