Ryan Harris provided a sensational finish, bowling the last two batsmen in one over and clinching victory with just 27 balls to go, just before 3am AEST.
This gave the Aussies a win by 245 runs and 2-1 series win – South Africa’s first loss in a series in eight years.
David Warner was named player of the match and the series.
Harris finished with 4-32 off 24.3 overs, Mitch Johnson 3-92 and James Pattinson 2-62.
PRIDE MISSES OUT AGAIN
FEDERATION Uni Ballarat Pride remains without a win after the opening five games of the Victorian Netball League championship division season.
Pride lost to Monash Uni 68-40 at the State Netball and Hockey Centre last night.
Ballarat also lost its 19/under game 43-31.
The division one results are not yet available.
MASSINA FAMILY’S NIGHT OUT
BENDIGO’S Massina family had a big night out at Ballarat greyhounds last night.
Robyn Massina trained the opening winner Skin To Bone ($3.90) in the R&J Batteries Maiden Qualifying Final, 390m, and Dallas Massina won with Zulekha ($6.90) in the Sasha’s Blend Maiden Qualifying Final, 450m.
Anakie trainer Carl Schlensog had a double with Heaps Of Ability ($5.20) in the Cosmic Chief at Stud Grade 5, 545m, and Frank Furter ($2.10 favourite) by six lengths in the Catering Allsorts Grade 5, 450m.
