St Patrick’s Day is once again on our doorstep and for those looking to celebrate the Irish culture, one possible option is the Shamrock Hotel in Dunnstown this Sunday.
The newly formed Ballarat Irish Club has chosen the location for the special St Patrick’s day event.
Committee member John Murphy said the club had only one event so far, but had St Patrick’s Day penned as their major event for the year.
“One of the reasons we wanted to get the club going was because the Bungaree district is quite famous for its Irish heritage,” he said.
“One of the ideas behind the day is that we want to get more young people involved in the club.”
Part of the push to involve more young people in the club will include a tug of war between four local football teams.
The day will also include Irish dancing and three bands performing the crowd.
The event begins from 1pm and will run through to 6pm, with finger food available on the day.
