HAWTHORN dual premier player Brad Sewell has been ruled out of the Hawks’ season opener against Brisbane Lions on March 22.
Sewell pulled sore after a practice match against Melbourne on Sunday.
With so much time still to go, it’s a big call by Hawthorn and indicates that Sewell faces a testing time getting his body through the season.
He needs 10 games to reach 200.
Sewell is now an unrestricted free agent.
A list of free agents released by the AFL on Tuesday also features The Courier’s AFL Tracker-listed James Frawley (Melbourne), Michael Jamison (Carlton), Nick Maxwell (Collingwood), Adam Goodes (Sydney Swans) and Matt Rosa (West Coast Eagles).
It is impossible to imagine Goods going to any other club, but Frawley has already the centre of substantial speculation regarding his future.
RICHMOND UPGRADES STEPHENSON
