The renowned competition, back in Ballarat in its 123rd year, this year includes Disney, film, television, piano and jazz solo sections for those under 19 and several new sections in speech and drama.
Last year’s competition attracted more than 10,000 competitors, resulting in more than 40,000 onstage appearances.
Ballarat Regional Tourism CEO George Sossi said the competition brought in more than $14 million to Ballarat’s economy.
“The event organisers have done a great job to nurture and grow the event, and now Ballarat is reaping the rewards,” Mr Sossi said.
The competition is taking all entries online, with disciplines including callisthenics, dance, choral, Chopin, classical vocal, contemporary vocal, country music, debating, speech and drama.
More than $98,000 in prizes will be awarded at this year’s competition.
Entries close on May 2. More information can be found at www.royalsouthstreet.com.au
