Ballarat breakfast report: April 13


Expect to see some sunshine come through today with cloud and fog clearing as the morning goes on.

We can expect a top of 20 degrees today with a slight drop tomorrow down to 18 degrees. 


Police reported a quiet evening with nothing of interest to report. 

However, in Melbourne police are appealing for witnesses after a police divisional van was set alight in Reservoir. 

A passerby noticed the police vehicle parked in a parking bay on Edwardes Street that was smoldering and alerted police. 

It’s believed someone has broken a window on the passenger side of the van and set alight the passenger seat by unknown means. 

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit. 


Fire crews returned to Derrinallum overnight to assist police following an explosion in the area in the early hours of Saturday morning. 

Senior station officer David Mounier said crews provided assistance with breathing apparatus to police. 


Nothing but good news to report for V/Line this morning with their website reporting good service on the Ballarat line. 


The Ballarat Woodworkers Guild will be donating handmade wooden trains and carriages to Ballarat Health Services Paediatric Unit today.
