Finishing touches are being carried out this week to ready the Morshead Park complex for the round seven National Premier Leagues Victoria encounter.
Red Devils chairman Duncan Smith checked the progress on Wednesday and said all was on track for the Saturday afternoon fixture against one of the state’s soccer giants.
“If we have a lovely day, we are expecting a crowd of over 1500. South Melbourne is bringing up three or four busloads of fans, plus people that come up in cars,” Smith said.
“We spoke to (South Melbourne) before the fixture was done and said we’d love to have them up as our first team as part of the new stadium and they were more than happy to oblige, and so was FFV.
“It has been a long time. It has been four or five years in the making.”
Saturday’s senior encounter starts at 3pm.
