Welcome to winter in Ballarat. And if the wet weather is anything to go by, this is the start of things to come.
The first winter race meet at the Ballarat Turf Club has been called off due to wet weather.
Families heading to the Wondrous Winter’s Day themed event will have to take a rain check.
There has been 14 millimetres of rainfall in the city in 24 hours.
On Sunday Ballarat can expect a rainy top of 14 , followed by an overnight low of eight degrees.
Showers are forecast for Monday with a top of 14 degrees.
Fire
Ballarat City and Sebastopol fire crews were called to a car fire in Sebastopol at 10.15pm on Saturday night.
Wendouree and Ballarat City fire crews were called to a house fire in Wattle Ave, Wendouree, after a rug in front of a heater caught alight about 12.20am.
Crews were also called to determine the cause of a gas smell in Brown Hill on Sunday morning.
Ambulance
No trauma cases were reported overnight in Ballarat.
Police
Ballarat Police said they experienced a quiet night.
V/Line
Coaches will replace trains between Melbourne and Ballarat on Sunday due to Regional Rail Link works.
Trains will continue to operate between Ballarat and Ararat/Maryborough.
