Local band The Greene Brothers will play a special gig replicating the original setlist played by The Beatles in Festival Hall in 1964.
The set will feature the classics Twist and Shout, I Want To Hold Your Hand, I Saw Her Standing There, You Can’t Do That, All My Loving, I Wanna Be Your Man, She Loves You, Till There Was You, Roll Over Beethoven, Can’t Buy Me Love, This Boy and Long Tall Sally.
Ken Greene said the band had performed many Beatles songs throughout its time playing gigs in Ballarat.
“We have played The Beatles in the past, I think everybody has played their songs at some stage or another,” Greene said.
He said his seven-piece band rarely rehearsed before a gig, but this one called for a change of routine.
Greene said it was important his band put on a flawless show, especially for Ballarat’s die-hard Beatles fans.
“Usually we just have a quick run-through, and that’s an ability we are lucky to have. We have extremely good musicians and we’re lucky to have these guys to play with,” Greene said.
“This is going to be a nice little challenge. We have played by ear all our life but we will be rehearsing this time because we don’t want to do an injustice, otherwise The Beatles fans will be right onto us.”
The band will perform two sets of rock covers, with a third set dedicated to The Beatles.
