Grammar has been agonisingly close to the title in the past two years – going down by single-figure margins – and the two schools again line up for a fourth-straight decider this afternoon.
Grammar coach Matt Hanlon and his team finished the home and away season on top of the ladder, with a round six 59-point thrashing of College the most recent scoreline between the two sides.
“They (College) have always been a strong program so I think they would have done their homework. We need to do what we did last time, which is work hard for four quarters and not take the foot off,” Hanlon said.
“The girls have been working really hard for the last couple of years, particularly this year. (They have been) playing the game style, not just playing the positions.”
College has won the past three grand finals against Grammar and every premiership since 2009. The school has missed out on a flag just once since 2002.
College coach James Couzens said despite the recent loss, College was “backing themselves in”.
“When we played Grammar a couple of weeks ago, they did towel us up,” he said.
“We have focused on a couple of areas requiring improvement and we give ourselves a chance.”
College did win the opening game between the two sides in round one by 27 points.
Grammar finished ahead of College at the top of the ladder, with the top two teams progressing to the grand final.
Today’s match will kick off at 3.45pm at Grammar’s Tunbridge Oval.
