The Bowls Victoria Country Women’s Carnival on March 23-27 is expected to attract up to 900 bowlers.
Ballarat District Bowls Division chairman Marilyn Blake said 700 entries had already been lodged for the event, which was contested every two years.
“We’re expecting more.
“We can accommodate between 800 and 900,” she said.
Blake said it was 23 years since Ballarat had hosted the pairs and fours event.
“It’s exciting to be running such a big tournament,” she said.
The BDBD secured the hosting rights with a successful application to Bowls Victoria.
Blake said given the demands on resources in running the carnival, BDBD players would not compete.
She said Ballarat District bowlers would be needed to help with the many organisational tasks.
The BDBD expects many of the state’s best players from across the country and metropolitan clubs to take part.
