Channels will change frequencies to accommodate new services, meaning those in Ballarat will have to retune their TVs in September.
Ballarat TRS owner Peter Fontana said the retune should be the last thing residents had to do to accommodate digital television.
“It should just be a matter of doing an auto-tune and it will go through,” he said. “Most people’s antennae should be fine.”
Mr Fontana said some televisions might do the retuning automatically, eliminating any need for people to adjust their channels.
A common problem across Ballarat has been reception for the channel Prime, which should also be fixed as a result of the change, according to Mr Fontana.
He said most Ballarat residents would experience the changeover on September 17, with those living in Ballarat East experiencing the change the next day.
The changes are happening across the country until the end of 2014.
