SEBASTOPOL Vikings are chasing another leap up the Football Federation Victoria men's state league four ladder.

The Vikings will play fourth placed Maribyrnong Greens in a blockbuster at Skinner reserve at Saturday.

Stand-in coach Jonathan Davey is wary of a Maribyrnong outfit that has won its past four games by an average of more than two goals, and suffered its last loss via way of a 5-7 thriller against Strathmore in round 10.

"They're another team that are free flowing and seem to be able to score goals quite easily," Davey said.

"I think they've won four or five in a row and they're dangerous (but) we'll look to play the same way that we have been for a while now.

"When we win the ball we're going to be looking to attack straight away."

Davey conceded that there was potential for the contest to turn into a shootout, but has backed his sides recent form in attack.

"It's very encouraging (the way we're scoring goals), especially since the start of the year when we couldn't buy one," he said.

"They're not just coming through the forwards or the wingers, they're coming from the midfielders as well, which is really encouraging."

Shaya Almousa will return to the Vikings squad from injury and will start on the bench.

Meanwhile, Davey, in his last week as stand-in coach for the abroad Michael Busija, is looking forward to a return to full playing duties.

"This is my last week as stand-in and it's been up and down," he said.

"It's hard to get used to a few things and you don't play too well when you're coaching at the same time."

A Vikings win could mean a jump into ninth spot on the ladder above Surf Coast.
