Ballarat breakfast report: July 30


The over night cloud cover has held in what ever heat Ballarat has been able to produce and will see the day rise to a top of 13 degrees after the mercury dipped to eight degrees over night.

Winds northwesterly 35 to 45 km/h.

Despite rain and grey clouds, remember to keep active during winter to line the body up for summer.

And just a heads up, we are expecting snowfall across the city below 500 metres on Friday with temperatures expected to dip just below zero.


An Eastern region police member has been charged following a Professional Standards Command investigation into an alleged assault in Swan Hill in 2011. 

The male Leading Senior Constable was charged on summons on Tuesday with intentionally cause injury and recklessly cause injury following the incident in Swan Hill on 11 June 2011. 

The police officer has been transferred to non-operational duties and will appear in the Swan Hill Magistrates' Court on 16 September. 


CFA volunteers took part in situational awareness training over night.

The volunteers from across the region learnt what to look for and how to manage a fire when you first arrive, how to assess the probabilites and establish facts at the scene. 


Paramedics reported no trauma cases on Tuesday night.
