St Patrick's College win their record fifth straight Herald Sun Shield grand final.

Final score 12.12 (84) to Box Hill's 5.5 (35)

6.15pm. AFL Victoria expect some of the St Pats superstars to run out on the MCG a bit more often in future years.

6.09pm. Jacob Hopper kicks another to extend lead to 50 points. 14 minutes gone final term. Scores now St Pats 12.12 (84) to Box Hill's  5.4 (34).

Is that a fat lady singing?

5.59pm. St Pats get the first of the final term. Lead now 42 points.

THREE QUARTER TIME. It's three quarter time at the MCG. St Pats in control, but a late goal to Box Hill hurt the Ballarat boys ever so slightly. Scores: 10.9 (69) v Box Hill 5.3 (33).

As always, St Pats are doing their best to rev their players up. Even on social media, just in case the players check it.

5.47pm. Score now St Pats 10.9 (69) to Box Hill  4.2 (26). Butler, Palmer & Wheelahan have 2 each for St Pats.

5.43pm. That last goal was a dashing end-to-end play which moved St Pats out to a 48 point lead.

Unassailable from there? Time will tell.

5.42pm. Another goal - and we suspect the person on the other end of the St Pats Twitter account might just be getting a little excited!

5.39pm. BANG. Lead up to 42 points. That's Wheelahan's second.

5.37pm. St Pats peppering the goals early in this second half.

5.30pm. Not long now.

HALF TIME. St Pats 8.4 (52) to Box Hill 3.2 (20). I'm standing in the square of the hallowed turf of the MCG right now. Box Hill got themselves back into it that quarter and managed to find a bit of the footy, but St Pats still look the better side. A big second half coming up.

5.15pm. It's a great view down here on the hallowed turf!

5.13pm. Scores now 8.4 to 3.2. St Pats have a 32 point buffer. 17 minutes gone second quarter.

5.12pm. Box Hill closing the gap.

5.07pm. St Pats answer back with a Jacob Hopper snap. Scores now 8.4 to 2.2.

5.05pm. Wow. Box Hill go BANG, BANG and kick two quick ones. A little lapse in concentration from the St Pats boys. Scores now 7.4 to 2.2. Still in control.

5.03pm. Lights on here at the MCG.

5pm. Another two for St Pats. Score is now 7.4 (46) to Box Hill's  0.2 (2). Jesse Palmer with his second goal and Dan Butler chimes in.

4.49pm. Another on the siren. Big confidence booster for the Ballarat side going into the second quarter.

4.47pm. Two quick goals for St Pats. Scores now 4.4 (27) to 0.2 (2). St Pats looking far the better side.

4.46pm. The Ballarat faithful have gathered behind the goals and are really getting vocal. Lots of noise for St Pats now.

4.45pm. St Pats are looking the much better side. They've had pretty much all the forward entries and almost all the possession.

4.42pm. Jacob Wheelahan ran intro an open goal and converted for the second major of the game. Scores are now St Pats 2.3 (15) to Box Hill's 0.1 (1).

4.38pm. It was a 50m penalty which gifted St Pats the first goal.

4.34pm. GOAL for St Pats!

4.31pm.  And we are off! St Pats with an early behind to open the scoring.

4.25pm. The team has final warm-ups before the first bounce at 4.30pm.

4.21pm. St Pats supporters take a front row seat.

4.18pm. The Box Hill supporters are being very vocal and might just outnumber the St Pats supporters at this stage. Just minute away from kick-off now.

4.15pm. It's perfect conditions at the MCG, with not even a breath of wind troubling the flags at either end of the ground. St Pats have just had their team photo and are now warming up. Coach Howard Clark seems relaxed at this stage.

4.05pm. The boys getting ready to run out on the hallowed turf of the MCG.
