Ms King said the National Commission of Audit’s recommendation to privatise the hearing services organisation would affect children, pensioners and veterans.
Australian Hearing helps almost 500,000 patients across Australia each year.
Ms King was joined by Labor senator Doug Cameron at the front of Australian Hearing on Sturt Street on Monday.
“It doesn’t cost the government any money, she said.
“They haven’t made a case for why you they should privatise it.”
Senator Cameron said the service had assisted thousands of Australians since 1947.
“The analysis is that it is a world-class service,” Mr Cameron said.
He said one in every 1000 children was born with a hearing issue.
