Ballarat timelapse video shows city's lifeblood

A BUDDING Ballarat video producer has set about capturing the lifeblood of the city with timelapse photography.

Jordan Osmond, 20, made the video clip to capture the ebb and flow of famous Ballarat locations throughout the day.

“I had seen some timelapse videos that other people had made and I wanted to give it a try,” he said.

“I thought why not just go around Ballarat and capture what the city’s all about?”

Using a Canon 600D camera, Mr Osmond set up shots of Lake Wendouree, the Arch of Victory, Mt Buninyong, Sturt Street and Town Hall.

“These are the locations I think would work well as a timelapse,” he said.

“So with the shots in the city, you can see all the traffic and you get to see the old buildings, because I think that’s one of Ballarat’s highlights – the architecture – you can see its history.

“My favourite shot is probably the one at night on Sturt Street where you can see all the traffic go by and you can see the traffic lights changing. I think it’s a really nice shot.”

Mr Osmond is practising his video skills and hopes one day to work in the industry.

“Video’s my passion. I’m trying to get into doing freelance video production.” The video is available to watch online at
